As we all know, these are unusual economic times. Nonprofit organizations across the country are being effected by the current recession. Respondents to one survey of nonprofits noted a 52 percent decrease in contributions between October 2008 and February 2009 as compared to the same period a year earlier. During that same period, a total of 59 percent of surveyed organizations reported increased demand for their services.

For 37 years, NCCS has helped Newaygo County area residents, providing housing and family services including health, nutrition and food pantry services; family support; homelessness prevention such as heat and energy assistance; youth and elderly services and more. These programs and services meet critical needs in the rural West Michigan communities we serve.

Current economic conditions have caused some families who were at the "margin," to now be in dire need of heat, energy, food and other assistance. Therefore, the need for such services has increased.

Your support can make a difference in the lives of those in need. Whether you designate a specific NCCS program or make an unrestricted gift to help provide overall support, your gift is significant.
