Meet “GENE”… his chair was pulled into the kitchen and blankets hung to close off all the rooms of his home. 82 year old “Gene” was alone, with an empty propane tank and his oven his only source of warmth. He ran out of gas and was not able to pay his $800 propane bill. His only recourse was to use his electric range to try to survive this extra harsh winter. “Gene” was one step away from freezing in his own home.

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,

for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away

like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.

Welcome to NCCScares.org!

Our new eCommunity is all about connectivity for staff, volunteers, supporters and those we serve. We are excited at all the wonderful opportunities the enhanced website affords.

The ability to connect on a more user-friendly level is increasingly important especially for grassroots organizations, such as NCCS. An enriched NCCS website allows greater connectivity for our “communities” and further supports our mission of “restoring, reshaping and enriching lives”. NCCScares.org is all about harnessing the power of technology and providing improved services to our constituents.

NCCScares.org features a set of tools, including; blogs, support forums, social bookmarking, tags, interactive forms and RSS. We are creating “virtual interactive communities” by fostering an environment where users exchange ideas, learn and interact, and build stronger communities both online and offline.

In the future, Bev’s Blog will give my perspective on key issues impacting NCCS and other nonprofits, a view inside NCCS including important updates, obstacles, and other news.

I encourage you to look around and see what NCCScares.org has to offer. We think you will be pleasantly surprised at how the site has something for everyone. And, check back often as the site will be consistently updating and evolving to meet needs.
